Dissecting the book, People of the Book, by Geraldine Brooks

January 22, 2014

Sometimes, when I read a book, I like to go off on tangents. I like to write down sentences that I find particular interesting, especially with strong description or word choice. It’s easy to take verbs for granted, but strong verbs are so important.

I will be attempting to look things up when I don’t know something, and just from reading the first few pages of People of the Book, there’s a lot I don’t know. I’ll be investigating history, vocabulary, and who knows. In a way I see this as being like a book club something that I’ve always wanted to do, but never have gotten around to it. Perhaps there will be people who would want to read Geraldine Brooks’ book with me. If you are worried that I’ll go too fast; that’s not going to happen since I may be looking up every other

word. I may bring in internet discussion questions. Who knows what this will look like since I’ve never done this before.

I'd love to hear from you.
