While experiencing a sleepless night, I stumbled across a wordpress.com blog of a teacher, and I thought this would be a wonderful thing to do when I get my next teaching gig. But why wait. Why not start now? I haven’t really thought out how thi is going to look, so stay tuned.
In the 2010-2011 school year, I showed the Movie Inherit the Wind to my Film As Literature class. Little did I know that today is the anniversary:
“On May 25, 1925, the stage was set for the Scopes Monkey Trial, when Tennessee educator John Scopes was indicted under a state law barring the teaching of Darwin’s theory of evolution.
Featuring nationally known figures such as William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow, the trial was viewed by many “as a titanic struggle between good and evil or truth and ignorance,” and a “fantastic cross between a circus and a holy war.” (source: findingDulcinea)
